Did you know that Clemson has a creative research project that focuses on genetically diverse crops? I have been working with Zack, who currently runs the Living Seed Ark and conducts these experiments. He does all sorts of testings at the organic farm and I have been lucky enough to photograph the progress these last couple of months.
There are 120 different tomatoes, 116 selections of peanuts and 119 varieties of okra down at the organic farm being tested for growth. The Living Seed Ark strives to connect with farmers and chefs in the area to promote diversity and great tasting products with the varieties that they grow. The varieties are maintained in a USDA certified organic environment located at the Student Organic Farm in Clemson. Sometimes during the summer, you can drive by and see hoards of sunflowers growing in the field next to the organic farm!
Here are some of the neat images that I have gotten over the past few months!
After exams, what else is there for 4 college kids to do other than go on an adventure? We had a plan to go hiking at Triple Falls and Looking Glass, then to go into Hendersonville and Brevard. Did you know there is a pinball museum in Hendersonville? It is awesome and I highly suggest that you check it out if you are in the area. I got one image of my roommate there, but haven't edited it yet. Do you want me to post a before and after?
On the trip, I took three cameras. Yes, excessive, but a good decision. I had one film camera so that I could learn, my Nikon D750, and my polaroid with black and white film. I was feeling very Ansel Adams with the black and white and I cannot wait to share those when I get the regular film developed and the polaroids scanned.
It was a much needed and awesome sauce adventure. Also, fact of the day, Brevard is home to white squirrels.
This past weekend, I second shot a wedding with my friend from journalism class. Ely Middleton is a creative who has been doing a lot of photography work lately and she is amazing. Ely knows how to direct clients, is a very welcoming person, and does her job with a smile on her face. You should definitely check her and her blog out when you get a chance! https://lettersfromely.com/
